Tyra didn't set out to build an accounting practice. She set out to help.
Long before Books and Beyond had a name, Tyra was the person friends, colleagues, and small business owners quietly turned to when the numbers stopped making sense. She had a rare ability to take something overwhelming and make it manageable, and word spread quickly. What began as informal support between trusted people eventually became impossible to ignore: there was real need out there, and she had the skills to meet it.
Small businesses quickly became her passion. Tyra understands that small businesses are the backbone of this country and a core part of the American dream. She saw firsthand how many owners were trying to do everything themselves while carrying the weight of bookkeeping, payroll, HR issues, reporting, compliance, and sales tax filings on top of actually running and growing their businesses. She wanted to become the kind of support that gave business owners room to breathe — someone they could rely on so they could focus on growth instead of constantly feeling buried in the operational side of their business.
As her client base grew, so did the scope of the work. Business owners needed more than clean books. They needed payroll they could trust, HR guidance without expensive retainers, and someone willing to untangle years of financial backlog without judgment. In response, Tyra expanded her services and built the systems, processes, and discipline of a full-service accounting practice designed to support clients at every stage of business growth.
Today, Books and Beyond works with small businesses, independent operators, and nonprofits both locally and across the country. We provide bookkeeping, payroll, HR consulting, financial organization, California sales tax filing, and operational support with the same level of care, responsiveness, and commitment for every client.
